Works in progress from a days play......

The images from above are from a days play in a old Victorian farm Hendre Hall, it was great to re-enact ideas I'd had in my head and to have the space to experiment with them. The box piece I thoroughly enjoyed   creating, using found objects and casts I had created previously, all though not finished it open the door to other possibilities of working and exhibiting work. The sieve piece is I didn't get very far with as it needs three times more thread on it than seen in the above images, the green threads should be cascading down and over the metal sieve, like ooze from a wound. It's time consuming but I hope to carrying with it back in my studio at home (all though space is lacking) it wasn't as successful as I had desired but perhaps by simply changing the sieve and adding more thread might be all it needs. The last images are of bits of paper that I usually have on my wall in my studio as point of reference or inspiration by showcasing this in the style it would be taped, shoved on my wall it gives a incite for the viewer to the artists mind.

There are a couple of things coming up this Autumn but first is a Zine Fair at Oriel Wrecsam, so I will be busy the next couple of weeks preparing for it. In hoping to finally create books using my funnywomen work, it's been a long time coming.

Photernative Group Exhibition in Oriel Colwyn

Photernative is an alternative photography group formed by Chris Bird, Ben du Ross and a group of like minded individuals in 2010 on the North Wales coast. Their aim was to find people who, like themselves, take photographs differently…

Many skills and techniques are represented, from classic photographic processes, printing images on fabrics/metals, moving image or presenting work in a unconventional way.

With such a wide range of contributors in the collective, each exhibition has delivered differently in line up and impact, with an overriding passion to be different shining through.

I exhibited some brand new pieces of work from a new series called Bodlondeb (meaning contentment) the photography was actually photographed some years ago and shelved. I have been waiting for the right moment or the right kick up the bum to finally bring them to public view. The work is very much rooted in the narrative and nostalgia of my Nain's (grandma in Welsh) and what happens to all these objects and material we collect over the decades when we are gone. It's a personal and open perspective on this matter of collecting, documenting, giving meaningless objects value and our relationship in capturing these memories.

I have many short films that co-inside with these project from my student days but I am unsure to explore that path just yet or keep it buried. I will be for sure continuing my exploration with the photographs I took.

The exhibition is on till the end of the month, above Theatre Colwyn in Colwyn Bay

Artwork in the Open Studio Day

Gareth opened his studio last Monday sharing half of it with Morgan and I, it was a great chance to view some of our new work, to get feedback from friends and family but better still from the public. Sadly I was really ill during the day so Morgan stepped in as my 'tour guide' he worked really hard for a solid 6 hours, so hats off to him. The day before when we were setting it up I created a site-specific sculpture, a research/idea wall similar to the one in my own studio covered in drawings and postcards and doodles!
